Product Review: No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner

Living Proof first introduced their line of No Frizz styling products which control frizz using a new and different technology.  Their active ingredients are not silicone based and instead treat and coat your hair and follicles to produce smoother hair.  Using No Frizz regularly increases the effects and improves the results.

In September 2009 Living Proof released their first shampoo and conditioner.  I first checked they were free of sulfates which strip hair color.  The down side of other sulfate free shampoos that I've tried is that the lather is minimal making hard to tell if you're cleaning your hair.  With my long hair, I like a big luxurious lather and No Frizz found a way to provide that sans sulfates.  I've been using the shampoo and conditioner for two weeks.  The shampoo made my hair smell great and feel clean.  I also used the conditioner from root to end because my hair is dry and I can use all the moisture I can get and it didn't weigh my hair down.

According to No Frizz, using the shampoo and conditioner alone deposits 30% of the active ingredient of their anti-frizz product after five uses, so I chose not to use an additional product before drying it.  I can say that my hair was less frizzy; but still quite full.  The most obvious effect of the shampoo and conditioner is that my hair actually stays cleaner longer.  This surprised me because normally by the third day on which I would normally wash my hair, there was no need.  No Frizz claims that the effect of coating the  hair repels both dirt and oil and I'm a believer.  I'll continue to use the No Frizz shampoo and conditioner with these impressive results.

With airport security becoming ever more challenging, the last thing you want to deal with is a pair or strappy sandals or dominatrix boots when it's your time to walk through the metal detector. But that doesn't mean you have to resign yourself to wearing sneakers every time you fly.

It's Complicated in Santa Barbara

Or is it?

Yes, It's Complicated is set in Santa Barbara, and some scenes are shot there; but much of the movie was shot in NYC and Thousand Oaks, Ca.  That didn't stop the Santa Barbara Visitors' Bureau from creating an It's Complicated website which points to the Santa Barbara Magazine interview with writer and director Nancy Meyers, the production notes, and a gallery of photos.  You can also link to movie tours based on Sideways, which did wonders for tourism in the Santa Barbara wine country.

In her interview, Meyers discusses why she chose Santa Barbara for It's Complicated:  "the natural beauty everywhere you look, the state of mind I feel when I'm there, the calm...It feels as close to the good life as you can get."

As for us, we love Santa Barbara and drove up for some shopping last time we were in LA.  Maybe we'll head up when we're there in February too.

Rachel McAdams on the Cover of Vogue

We capped off our holiday season by catching Sherlock Holmes, which was exciting and entertaining.  Rachel McAdams was perfect as an international jewel thief, con-artist, and Sherlock Holmes' love interest.  Her brightly colored dresses- even her lip color- stood out in the otherwise gray canvas of the movie like her shoes and dress in the picture above.

You can read more about the very private Rachel McAdams in Vogue this month.  She lives in Canada where she's from and leads an inspiring eco-friendly lifestyle.  In fact, she started GreenIsSexy, a blog dedicated to green living, with a couple of her girlfriends.  Her comments in Vogue convinced us she's our kind of woman.  First a perfect day for her would be:  "Get up. Go to the grocery store. Go out to the movies. Do a little work on the Web site."  Sounds perfect!

And next she explains her philosophy on purchases:  "I don't really desire things. I prefer to spend my money on experiences, on meals or travel." Us too, in fact  we're busy planning  trips  to LA,  Vail and Miami.  Rest assured, there were trade-offs involved in making those happen; but we have no regrets.

MAC's Warm & Cozy Line

 Given that it's about minus 50 with windchill on the East Coast, it's possible that we may never leave our home until it's time to catch our plane to a warm escape. In the meantime, since we don't want to scare off our new hubby, we're playing around with the new MAC Warm & Cozy line. 
We've heard it compared to the MAC Nudes (it does contain some of the glosses), but that's OK by us, since that was one of our fave MAC lines ever. Of the products we were sent to test, we're loving all the lip products, including the Close for Comfort Lip Conditioner. It keeps our lips moisturized with a sheer hit of color. 
 

It's hard to argue with a sheer gloss. We received 2N, a very wearable pale beige-ish pink.

We need to head on down to our nearest MAC store to buy the Shadestick shadows. They look like just the makeup we need to curl up by the fireplace in our favorite cashmere sweater.

We like the scent of the Sweet Orange and Lavender Care Blend Essential Oil, but can't quite bring ourselves to use something that looks like cuticle oil ourselves on our face.
