It's no secret, especially if you've followed our site, that Austin is simply one of our favorite places to visit. Not only is it a mecca for laid-back cool style, food, people and music; but it's home to our favorite spa and Rusty Irons.
Last November we went to Austin and met Rusty (pictured above), who runs The Irons Austin, a boutique hotel that specializes in providing its guests with a true Austin experience. It's in great proximity to good eats and great boutiques on South Congress. If you don't know where to start, be sure to consult Rusty, she's totally connected and she might even share her stash of bubbly.
If you're lucky, your trip will coincide with one of Austin's famous music festivals. The grand-daddy of them all is the Austin City Limits held October 4th-6th and features 130 bands.
After a couple of days partying in downtown Austin, go for some detox at the Lake Austin Spa. Our dear friend Amanda lives around the corner and we go each time we're in town. It has grown in the past few years and its new spa building houses large and airy treatment rooms, a gorgeous screened in waiting room, and a quaint spa restaurant. Last time we were there we had the 110 minute Chardonnay Wine Treatment and highly recommend it for its equal parts scrub, wrap and massage.
Austin also scores high on shopping, cute boys and Mexican food making it pretty damn close to heaven in our book!
